Webinar exploring geochemical impacts on CO2 injectivity

As there is an ongoing need to evaluate the potential geochemical reactions caused by CO2 injection at storage sites, the EAGE-EAG Technical Community on Geochemistry recently held a webinar “Geochemistry impacts in high quartz systems for injectivity risk management and the art of the negative result” with guest speaker Dr Linda Stalker (CSIRO).

In this webinar, Dr Stalker explained how various methods, such as batch reaction models, can be utilised to meet regulatory demands, assess risks related to predicting injectivity impacts, and advance research strategies for core flooding and reactive transport modelling. The session provided valuable insights into the critical role of geochemical analysis in carbon storage projects, emphasising how effective evaluation and risk management can ensure safe and efficient CO2 injection.
