Bergen Carbon Solutions AS announced on 3 July 2026 that it has received a notification of intention to grant from the Norwegian Industrial Property Office (NIPO) for a patent application related to its CO2 separation technology.
The patent application (PCT/NO2025/050020), titled “Method and Apparatus for Purification and Separation of Solid-State Carbon-Containing Material”, covers key aspects of the company’s proprietary process for the purification and handling of carbon-containing materials derived from CO2.
The notification confirms that the application has met the substantive patentability requirements, including novelty and inventive step. The patent remains subject to completion of final administrative formalities before being formally granted.
